This Privacy Policy describes how The Footlight (“we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our website and related pages (at www.thefootlight.com).
The Footlight is a Bible teaching and podcast ministry. This page is a practical site notice, not legal advice.
Who we are
The Footlight publishes Bible teaching content, podcast episodes, and related ministry information. We do not operate an online store or process product orders on this website.
Information we collect
Contact form. If you use our Contact page, we collect the information you submit (typically your name, email address, subject, and message). That message is delivered to our site administrators so we can respond.
Server and security logs. Like most websites, our hosting environment and security tools may automatically receive technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring URL, and timestamps. We use this to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the site.
Cookies and similar technologies. The site and some plugins may set cookies that are necessary for core WordPress functions, spam protection (for example Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form), or optional analytics/performance features (for example Jetpack-related services if enabled). You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Comments. Comments are generally closed on this site. If comments are enabled on a page or post in the future, comment submissions may include the text you enter plus technical data used for spam detection.
Embedded and third-party content
Episode and home pages may embed or link to third-party platforms, including YouTube, Rumble, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Spreaker, and social networks (for example Facebook or Instagram). When you play, load, or interact with that content, those providers may collect data under their own privacy policies, as if you visited them directly.
We do not control third-party cookies or tracking on those platforms. Please review each provider’s privacy policy if you have questions about their practices.
Analytics and site services
We may use WordPress.com / Jetpack (or similar) features for basic traffic statistics, image/asset delivery, downtime monitoring, or security. Those services process technical usage data to help us understand how the site is used and keep it available.
Search or SEO plugins (if installed) may store settings and generate sitemaps; they do not change the contact information you choose to send us.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Respond to messages you send through the contact form
- Operate, maintain, and secure the website
- Understand aggregate traffic and improve content presentation
- Prevent spam and abuse (including reCAPTCHA checks on form submissions)
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with service providers that help us run the site (hosting, email delivery of form notifications, spam protection, analytics/CDN). We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the security of the site and our users.
Data retention
Contact form messages and related email copies are retained as long as needed to respond and keep ordinary ministry correspondence records, unless you ask us to delete them and we are not required to keep them. Server logs are retained according to our host and security tooling defaults.
Your choices
To ask a privacy-related question, request access to information you submitted to us, or ask us to delete a contact-form message we still hold, email brian@thefootlight.com or use our Contact page.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you are aware of the revised notice.
